Frequently Asked Questions
Can you remove the smoke smell completely?
Of course! We will never claim that an area is restored if the effects of the damage are still lingering. After demolition of affected materials, cleaning the structure and contents, fogging the affected areas for deodorization, and rebuilding with new materials- we can assure you there will be no evidence of the damage left behind.
How soon should I call after a fire is put out?
For most fire damages, our services can wait until the following day or longer. Every situation is unique, though, and we are more than happy to accommodate your situation once we know it. We're available 24/7 to discuss your options. If you're unsure, call us as soon as the fire is out, and we'll let you know if we should wait or come out immediately.
Is it safe to clean fire damage myself?
Sometimes, for very small damages like a single scorch mark or fire extinguisher residue, you can get away with doing it yourself. This is pretty rare, though. Smoke moves extremely quickly and it leaves a lot of damage in its wake. The particles and chemicals left behind after a fire damage can be hazardous to your lungs, and if the water damage isn't cleaned up, it can cause major structural damage and health hazards in your home. If there's any questions about whether or not you can handle it, feel free to call us for a free assessment.
Does ServiceMaster handle insurance directly?
Mostly, yes. We'll handle most of the communication with your insurance company. There are some things
we can't do without you, but for the most part you'll be working directly with us. We don't have big call
centers that will bounce you around from department to department. When you call ServiceMaster by
Creative Restoration, you'll be talking to a friendly face who knows your situation.
